The world from above

Create

The workshop behind the curtain.

Everything in Untold Lore was made with the tools that ship with the game. Build a rule system from scratch or remix someone else's. Sculpt a world and seed it with the people who already live there. Write the adventure your friends will play on Saturday, then publish it for everyone else.

Behind the screen

The tools behind the table.

Untold Lore ships with everything needed to design a rule system, build a world, or run a session from scratch. Use as much of it as you want. Skip the parts you don't.

00  —  System designer

Designing a system.

Build the rules of your world from the ground up. Decide what your characters are made of, how they grow, what they can do, and how a fight resolves. Build a system rooted in classic dice and saving throws. Build a survival-horror system where every wound is a consequence. Build something no one has played before. The same engine runs a system with no combat at all, and a system where one wound is fatal.

Or skip the whole exercise. Pick a rule system off the Steam Workshop and play tonight.

What you have to work with

  • Customize stats, skills, abilities, conditions, and effects
  • One shared resolver for combat, skill checks, opposed contests, and saves
  • Three ways characters earn abilities: chosen at creation, earned through play, granted by the world
  • A formula language for the math behind your rules — no programming required
  • Publish finished systems to the Steam Workshop for others to use

00  —  World editor

Building a world.

Shape the world your players step into. Sculpt coastlines and carve mountains. Paint forests, deserts, and tundras into the spaces between. Draw the road that connects the village to the harbor. Mark the spot where the shrine has always stood. Layer cities and dungeons over the base world without disturbing what's underneath.

When you're running a community, manage it from the same place: who can do what, who's been here, what they did.

What you have to work with

  • Five-tool map editor: select, sculpt land, paint biomes, draw paths, place markers
  • Layered zones for cities, dungeons, and points of interest
  • Procedural generation for forests and ambient props, fully overridable
  • Live editing — time freezes when you enter the editor, resumes when you leave
  • Granular community permissions, ban lists, server announcements, audit logs
  • Forums with auto-generated character profiles, faction pages, and adventure logs

00  —  Session tools

Running a session.

Run the story the way you imagined it. Step above the world to set the scene; step into a character to deliver the line. Spawn the bandits hiding in the trees. Drop a chest into the corner of the room because someone just rolled a 20. When the encounter doesn't land, reset it and try again.

Set up world reactions in plain language: when this happens, do that. The world responds the way you wrote it.

What you have to work with

  • Smooth overhead camera with pan, orbit, zoom, and double-click teleport
  • Click any character, object, or place to inspect or edit
  • Possess any character to drive them through a scene, then step out
  • Pause the entire world for the table
  • Inline placement of NPCs, chests, items, and trigger volumes
  • A reaction system for spatial, interaction, combat, time, and state events — no code required
  • One-click reset for an encounter or an entire adventure

Make something. Share it. Play someone else's.

Everything in Untold Lore — every rule system, every adventure, every world — was made by someone. The Steam Workshop is where you publish what you've built and discover what everyone else has built. Rule systems you can drop into any campaign. Adventures your storyteller can run on Saturday. Worlds you can step into for the first time.

Rule systems.

Pick up someone else's system and play it tonight, or remix it into your own.

Adventures.

One-shot scenarios, multi-session stories, and arena scenes — ready to run.

Asset packs.

Custom models, textures, and sounds that drop in cleanly without breaking anything.

On the horizon.

Untold Lore is playable today, and growing in directions bigger than any list could capture. We're building this for the long haul — for years of your campaigns, for decades of your communities — and the road ahead is wide.
