Behind the screen
The tools behind the table.
Untold Lore ships with everything needed to design a rule system, build a world, or run a session from scratch. Use it all or grab a module off-the-shelf - it's your sandbox.
00 — Ruleset creation
Create new game mechanics.
Customize skills and abilities, add new mechanics, and make the rules your own. A fast-paced hack-n-slash crawl, a slow-burn survival horror experience, a cozy homesteading sim with social encounters - what sounds best to you?
Sound too tedious? Grab a ruleset from the Steam Workshop instead!
What you have to work with
- Customize stats, skills, abilities, conditions, and effects
- A resolver for skill checks, contested rolls, and more
- A formula language for the math behind your rules
- Easy publishing to the Steam Workshop for sharing

00 — Worldbuilding
Shape the world to your liking.
Sculpt coastlines and carve mountains. Paint forests, deserts, and tundras into the spaces between. Draw the road that connects the village to the harbor. Mark the spot where the shrine has always stood - and create its deadly guardian, ready to assail any unwanted visitors.
What you have to work with
- Paint terrain and biomes
- Create places of interest and link them with paths
- Add procedural effects to create realistic terrain formations
- Add resources, shops, NPCs, and more

00 — Running a Session
You all meet in a tavern...
Write your own adventures and run them for friends. Create maps, set up encounters, and manipulate how events unfold from behind the scenes - or pull an adventure module from the Steam Workshop and run that instead.
What you have to work with
- Explore the scene from a 3rd person omniscient perspective
- Possess NPCs to exposit, nudge the players, or even fight back
- Set up triggers and effects; the world remembers what players do
